I am passionate about inspiring potential in all of my learners and believe that it is essential for educators to create enriched learning experiences that guide each student in developing their own unique skills, values and attitudes. The learning environment that I provide to my students must be able to foster the growth and potential to all. This will not only help students grow as learners in the classroom, but as people in the real world too. My wish is to do this with every student that I encounter in my teaching career.

Through my experiences, I have come to understand that assessment must be engaging to learners, and should foster metacognitive practices as well as critical thinking. Assessment should also be used as a reflective tool for educators to evaluate their personal teaching process. I am passionate about providing learners with hands-on activities that guide their learning. As an English major, I understand the value of being a literacy role model for my learners and the necessity of integrating meaningful text into all subject areas. I have found that integrating technology into the classroom is an excellent way of creating authentic learning experiences that encourage learners to become accountable for their understanding in a meaningful way.

Each student that I come across will have a different learning style, which means that the material I present in classes will be offered in different ways. Ideas such as class discussion, hands-on activities and materials, visuals, and audio samples will be integrated into my classroom. This ensures that the material I teach will be inclusive and engaging to all students, and will therefore reach the widest audience possible.

It is important for students to realize that everything they bring to the table – such as different opinions, cultures, and beliefs – are all extremely valuable within my classroom as I always choose to celebrate differences that others share. I will ensure that my students do the same. This will help to foster the kind and positive learning environment that I desire for my students.

Finally, I believe that it is extremely important to collaborate with others in teaching. This should include students and their parents, but should also be extended to other educators, administration, as well as the larger community. My sincere hope is to foster a love of learning with all of my classes, as I share my passion for life-long education. I also hope to inspire my students to put others before themselves, ultimately creating a pleasant classroom environment. Life-long learning should be celebrated by all.
